This morning our plane will make a stop and then continue onto PISA. Breakfast will be served onboard the plane. Upon arrival at the Pisa Airport, we will be met by our bus driver who will take us to our awaiting motorcoach. We will make a stop on the way to our hotel, to see the famous Leaning Tower and Baptistery. We’ll spend a half hour or so here to take photographs, before continuing on to our delightful hotel, the Villa Maria, located in the heart of the charming resort town of MONTECATINI TERME. This will be our home for the entire time, so we’ll only unpack our suitcases one time. Once we settle in and unpack, we will take a leisurely stroll through the streets of the town and learn what makes this place one of the most attractive resort spa towns in all of Italy. Tonight, a special orientation with Lyndon Freedman, Organizer for The Manhattan Wine Group, and Steve O’Connor from Tuscany Cooking Tours, will take place before we enjoy a “welcome dinner” at our hotel. We will then proceed to Piazza del Duomo, the center of religious life in medieval Florence and see the impressive Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and the Baptistery, where we will view the masterfully crafted bronze doors. We will also see the magnificent outside walls of the Church of Santa Croce, burial place of Michelangelo, Galileo and Machiavelli. We make our way from piazza to piazza and pass special boutique shops that will beckon us to step inside. Once we decide on a meeting place and time, you will have an opportunity to enjoy Florence at your leisure. You may opt to go to one of the famous art museums, or shop for jewelry on the Ponte Vecchio. You just might browse the dozens of stalls at the San Lorenzo leather market.
